Sometimes a gesture of love is just a piece of paper tied on a branch…
Flags Of Love is about a day I had with my husband. We were in Florida visiting family and we took a day just for us and we went to the Salvador Dali Museum. I love any kind of garden or art and my husband always takes me to one or the other. On this trip we took the guided tour with headphones. We walked together but separately listened to the voice in our ear talk about his work, his life and his love. It might have been one of the most romantic things we did. Seriously.
Something about taking in all this beautiful art and being together hands brushing each other. Arms wrapping around a waist as you pass by all while people walked around us. To me in the moment I felt like we were the only two people there. The Love Story that Dali and Gala had was passionate and sweet and being surrounded by all those feelings made our love feel so linked.
After you leave the museum there was a huge tree outside overlooking the water with pieces of paper tied around branches and floating in the wind. It must have been thousands. When you first went into the museum you got a paper bracelet and people were wrapping them around the branches to symbolize love. So we kissed under the tree and tied our bracelets of paper on the branches.
And that’s how Flags of love was born and then written.
